Singing about Freedom
Music has been integral in the decades-long fight for freedom and civil rights and Choral Artists of Sarasota recalls some of the music heard from the fight to end slavery to the battle against Jim Crow laws and the right to vote. “Marching to Freedom” was recorded live at Selby Gardens’ Historic Spanish Point campus and is now available for home streaming through March 14. Artistic Director and pianist Joseph Holt leads the Choral Artists Chamber Chorus in a wide-ranging program that features “Free at Last,” “Walk Together Children,” “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child,” “When the Saints Go Marching In” and more. ~ Jay Handelman, Sarasota Herald-Tribune
