Dangerous Ladies Documentary
Kate Alexander and Florida Studio Theatre created an incredible year-long celebration and observance of the 100th anniversary of women gaining the right to vote. Dozens of cultural organizations in Sarasota joined the celebration and Choral Artists is featured twice in the documentary, DANGEROUS LADIES. The women of Choral Artists appear singing “An American Anthem” and “The March of the Women” by Ethel Smyth during the video. Even more thrilling is the aspect that the Sarasota Film Festival features this documentary as part of the 2021 Festival – this is the first time that Choral Artists has appeared on the celluloid screen! We are honored to be a part of this important documentary.
About the Film: With many of its scenes filmed in Sarasota’s Florida Studio Theater, DANGEROUS LADIES utilizes historical photos, dramatic monologues, and even song to look back on the suffragists and their precursors, whose courage ultimately led to women being given the right to vote with the ratification of the 19th amendment in August 1921. The documentary is available for streaming during the Sarasota Film Festival.
